PATIENCE JONATHAN AND AMAECHI REUNITE AT ABIA

It appears that the feud between Nigeria’s former first lady Patience Jonathan and minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, is over.

The duo were spotted on Saturday, August 20 at the funeral mass of former minister of foreign affairs, Ojo Madueke, in Abia state.

Patience and Amaechi were constantly at loggerheads during the last administration as they battled for control of Rivers state where they both come from.

It was alleged that the real quarrel between Jonathan’s wife and Amaechi, started when the first lady tongue-lashed the former governor for the demolition of houses in her town Okrika to make way for educational structures.

Patience’s grouse is that Amaechi looked certain to demolish and compensate the people without first seeking their consent; Amaechi’s is about the manner in which the first lady addressed the matter in public without according him due respect as man constitutionally saddled with the task of running the state.

Although there’s only an eight-year gap between the two of them, Patience once referred to Amaechi as “my son”.

You may already know that Nigeria is the largest black nation in the world and the most populous nation in Africa. You may already know that Nigeria has great dependency on crude oil, plus all the other opinions of David Cameron. Here are 20 unpopular facts about Nigeria.

 1. Are you aware that all over the world Nigerians are setting the pace and becoming the standard by which others measure themselves? Do you know??

2. In the US, Nigerians are the most educated immigrant community. Type it into Google and you'll see it. Not one of the most educated, the most educated.

3. 60% of Nigerians in the US have college degrees. This is far above the American national average of 30%.

4. Nigerians in US are one of the highest earners, typically earning 25% more than the median US income of $53k.

 5. In Ivy League schools in Europe and America, Nigerians routinely outperform their peers from other nations.

 6. A Nigerian family, The Imafidon family, have officially been named the smartest family in the UK.

 7. The designer of the famous car, Chevrolet Volt, Jelani Aliyu, is a super talented Nigerian from Sokoto State.

8. The World's fastest supercomputer was designed by a world renowned inventor and scientist, Philip Emeagwali, a full-blown Nigerian whose patency was awarded in 2015. This means Nigeria has the patency to the world's fastest computer: a Black Nigerian.

 9. The wealthiest Black man and woman on earth are Nigerians, Aliko Dangote and Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija. Both have no trace of criminal record of any kind.

10. South Africa couldn't have ended apartheid & achieved Black rule if not for the leadership role Nigeria played.

 11. Of the 3 South African Presidents who ruled after apartheid, two of them once lived in Nigeria under asylum. Both Nelson Mandela (60s) and Thabo Mbeki (70s) lived in Nigeria before becoming President of South Africa. We gave financial support, human support, boycotted an Olympics and our politicians, musicians and activists campaigned relentlessly.

12. Nigeria spent over $3 Billion and lost hundreds of soldiers to end the wars in both Liberia and Sierra Leone which the world ignored because they have no oil.

13. When there was a coup in Sรฃo Tomรฉ and Prรญncipe in 2003, Nigeria restored the elected President back to power.

 14. Before there were street lights in European cities, ancient Benin kingdom had street lights fueled by palm oil.

15. 500 years ago, Benin casted metal alloys to create magnificent art including the world famous Queen Ida Mask.

16. Amina was a warrior queen who ruled Zaria Emirate in Kaduna state, Northwestern Nigeria 400 years ago in 1610. Google and see what she means to Africa.

 17. We gave monetary gifts to Ireland during our oil boom and built a statue for France free of charge. We are not poor blacks. Nigeria is rich and don't be lied to.

18. The first television station in Africa was NTA Ibadan (1960) long before Ireland has their RTE station. ========= Wherever you look in this great country, Nigeria, heroes abound both now and in our recent and ancient past. If all you do is listen to mainstream Western media, you'll not get the full picture of your Nigerian heritage. Do not listen to any leader who says Nigerians are criminals, no matter who he is, or his height and position. We're not a nation of scammers, drugs & corruption, but a people with a verifiable track record of greatness. ========== Here is what CNN, BBC, Aljezeera and western media will not tell you about Nigerians:

 19. On the 7th May, 2016 at Howard University in Washington D.C history was made. Out of 96 graduating Doctor of Pharmacy candidates, 43 of them were Nigerians and out of 27 awards given, 16 went to Nigerians. They will only tell you how Nigerians are scammers and cheats, how Nigerians are into drugs overseas et al. If you don't blow your trumpet, no one will blow it for you. VIVA NAIJA!!!

20. There are over 180,000,000 Nigerians world over and only less than 250,000 of this figure have traceable criminal records. This is about 0.14% of our entire national population in the last 20 years: nothing close to 1%. Shame on global media. Listen Nigeria, dont let anybody woo you into believing that you are a criminal just because you are a Nigerian. Nigerians are NOT criminals. You are NOT a criminal. You are topnotch; second to none around the world. Be proud of Nigeria wherever you go.

Take out your Passport with pride. Be proud of our GREEN HERITAGE. Be enthusiastic of our FUTURE GREATNESS

Paul Pogba’s journey to becoming the most expensive footballer in the world

At last! Pogba go play for Man U

– “Pogboom” left French club, Le Havre acrimoniously in 2009 to Manchester United

– The Frenchman left United to Juventus due to lack of playing time

– Pogba left United a boy and returned a man, leaving a colossal hole in the club’s pocket in the process It has been a long and arduous journey for a black player to be the world’s most expensive footballer ever with Paul Pogba’s transfer back to Manchester United from Juventus for N45billion (£105million). Gone are the days of total disregard for black player’s abilities and modicum financial reward for their undoubted skills, performances and inputs. The leggy Frenchman nicknamed ‘Paul the Octopus` in Italy for his long legs that look like tentacles in tackling and running, and also generally compared with the former France international, Patrick Viera for his energy and explosive style on the pitch has indeed made history.
At last! Pogba go play for Man U Paul Pogba as a Manchester United trainee Early childhood and career Paul Labile Pogba was born on 15 March, 1993 in Lagny- sur-Marne, Seine-et-Marne to modest Guinean parents. He has two older brothers who are twins (Florentin and Mathias) and are also footballers, plying their trade with Sainte Etiene in France and Partick Thistle in Scotland respectively. He began his football career at the age of six with US-Roissy-en-Brie, a few miles south of his hometown where he spent seven seasons before joining US Toray and served as the under-13 team captain. He later joined Le Havre as his first professional club. He helped the club to finish second in the second-tier of the French league. He departed Le Havre acrimoniously on 31 July, 2009 to join the youth academy of Manchester United. A move that led Le Havre to release an official statement on its website criticising Manchester United and the Pogba family poaching and reneging on agreement before later announcing their intention to ask FIFA to probe the transfer. United countered by threatening to sue the club, while Pogba was forced to deny leaving for £87.000 and a house, as alleged by the then Le Havre President Jean-pierre Houvel.
It turned out to be a case of `what comes around goes around` as Pogba’s former club Torcy accused Le Harve of employing similar tactics to acquire his services by releasing a statement “We will not use the term ‘steal’, but the recruiters of Le Havre acted the same way with the club in Torcy.” Manchester United was eventually cleared of wrongdoing by a judge appointed by FIFA, stating that Pogba was not contractually linked with Le Havre. A confidential agreement was later reached by both clubs on 18 June, 2010 to resolve the matter. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Pogba Pogba heads back to Carrington

“Pogboom” – another of his nicknames, has always believed in his own abilities. His over-eagerness to compete and prove himself at the highest level led to his initial exit from Manchester United to Juventus. His potentials and abilities never went unnoticed by the then manager, Sir Alex Ferguson who was able to foresee his departure by saying – “I mean if we hold Pogba back, what’s going to happen? He’s going to leave. You know, in a couple of year’s time when his contract is going to finish. So we have to give him the opportunity to see how he can in the first team and he’s got great ability.” Leave he did – to Juventus, after a lack of consistent opportunity in the first team, making only two substitute Premier League appearances and a UEFA Europa league appearance.
It was another controversial transfer, refusing to sign a new contract, leading Sir Alex to state that Juventus had signed up Pogba “a long time ago as far as we’re aware.” Sir Alex Ferguson went further to accuse Pogba of disrespecting the club “It is disappointing. I don’t think he showed us any respect to be honest. I’m quite happy that if footballers carry on like that, they’re probably better doing it away from us.” Paul Pogba returns to Manchester United Paul Pogba returns to Manchester United Pogba was equally unrepentant, quoting at the time “I said to Ferguson: ‘Play me, and i will show you if I’m ready or not’, Then against Blackburn on December 31, 2011, I was on the bench. Ferguson put Rafael in midfield with Ji Sung Park. Then I gave up.” Meteoric rise back to Manchester United Pogba made his competitive debut for Juventus against Chievo, and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Napoli. His glowing performances led to appraisals from several Italian media outlets such as La Gazzetta dello Sport and other European media outlets like The Guardian who named him as one of the ten most promising player in Europe.
The rest as they say, is history as he has won the 2013 Golden Boy Award, given to the best young football player in Europe, with nominees under the age of 21, as well as the under-20 World Cup with France. The great Zinedine Zidane was among many football legends who have lavished praises on the young Frenchman about his potential to become one of the best players ever, Patrick Viera was another. Pogba has proved equal to the praises and the high expectations of him, stating one of the reasons why he joined the Italian club “Juventus can help me realise my dream of becoming the best player in the world.” His deployment as a number 10 by Massimo Allegri has been a revelation, improving leaps and bound with every match he played in that position, which has not gone unnoticed by the European football superpowers. Pogba has won four back-to-back Serie A titles (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16), two Coppa Italia (2014-15, 2015-16), two Supercopa Italia (2013, 2015) and other individual honours, including FIFA World Cup Best Young Player 2014, Serie A Top Assist provider 2015-2016 amongst other honours.
With all these achievements, it was only a matter of time before Manchester United come calling back. Eating a huge dollop of humble pie in the process of realizing the club’s gravest mistake in its history, for letting him leave to Juventus in 2012, most importantly for a pittance. However, credit must be given to the old Trafford outfit for swallowing their pride and jumping in at the deep end to make the reunion happen. Reunion prognosis Pogba’s return to the Theatre of Dreams can be concluded to be a combination of unfinished business, the lure of being coached by Mourinho, ambition, ego, financial incentive and above all, the promise that he will be the focal point with the team constructed around him.
It surely wasn’t for Champions League football this season, but rather Europa League. He’s renowned for his versatility in the middle of the park, a box to box midfielder but most effective in the number 10 role. It is yet to be seen where Mr Mourinho will deploy him. With his experience, he must have a plan thought out. Pogba is an attack minded midfielder and will be expected to be a game charger, especially with that huge price tag on his head. Scrutiny will come with the territory. He is capable of playing in any position on the field but will need a regular role where he can consistently turn in excellent performances to justify the humongous price tag. If pre-season is anything to go by, Mourinho favoured 4-2-3-1 system, and in that system Pogba would probably be one of the two holding midfielders rather than a No 10 where the club is already spoilt for choice. One thing is certain, Mourinho would not have signed Pogba without a definite team plan, what remains to be seen is how that plan is implemented.

Unveiled: Happiness Ozoalor, a 23-year-old female welder in Delta state

Miss Happiness Ozoalor, 23, is the only lady welder in Delta State. She is an indigene of Enugu but was born in 1993 in Aniocha area of Delta State. Our Naij.com correspondent ran into her along the ever busy Onitsha/Benin expressway, opposite the Asaba airport where she has her workshop displayed for would be customers. Prior to becoming a welder, Miss Ozoalor was working at Caretime, a company producing hair relaxer and air freshener in Asaba. She said her interest in becoming a welder was inspired when she observed some welders living close to where she lived in about five years ago, and then she was a teenager. “I went into it because the place I live before was close to some welders’ workshops. “When I return from Caretime, I used to watch them from my house, at times they will tell me to help them do one thing or the other. There and then I began developing interest in welding. I thereafter told them I want to learn welding. They told me it’s not hard and that I can do it”, she told Naij.com. Miss Ozoalor, who attended Gateway to Success Secondary School in Ebu, Oshimili North council area of Delta State, learnt the welding for two years between 2012 and 2013 when she completed the training from her master, one Mr. Emeka Isichei. For her, it was a smooth ride into becoming a welder as she did not pay any money beside meager agreement fee she paid to her master. “My oga didn’t collect much money from me, he only collected agreement fee and he said I should pay anything I can afford because I’m a woman coming to learn a man’s work,” she said. Against the desire of many parents who would want their female children to go into trades that are feminine in nature, her parents did not discourage her from the trade she has determined to do. Rather, her parents only warned against eye problem due to the radiation of the welding light, “My parents were only telling me that I hope this thing will not injure me especially my eyes. I told them that it does not disturb me. They didn’t discourage me from learning this welding. READ
“At times my face will be appearing somehow because of the light but I was not discouraged from continuing the training. I was determined to learn it. I put my mind fully into it and I have learnt the whole thing in welding,” Miss Ozoalor said. Although one of her sisters attempted pulling their mother to stop her, she was resolute to go on with her training. She told NAIJ.com that she has made up her mind to stick to her career, undermining the financial allurement that may come from anywhere. She said she would not give up her training in the name of getting married to a man who may want to discourage her from her welding career. According to her, “I’m doing this job before he met me so I won’t leave my work. We will have our agreement before we get married because this is the work I was doing before he came me. This work has been feeding me and so I can’t afford to drop it. This is my handwork; I can’t take his own which I do not have any idea of. No matter where the person comes from I can’t leave my work, we only need to blend.” Her father died in June 2014 and for that her mother had to relocate to Enugu, their home state, and, being the first child from her mother’s end because her father married three wives, she must put on her thinking cap to make a living for herself and her younger relations. And since 2013 when she completed her training and established herself, she has made a fortune out of welding. Although, Miss Ozoalor is the only lady in the midst of the men welders in the state, she is comfortable and happy among them. On admission into the welders’ union, she was made the welfare officer of the association. Her admission into the association was actually out of compulsion. Ordinarily, she was ignorant of the need for admission, only interested in practicing her trade but she has to be a member to practice without hitches. This is because all trades have associations through which they cater for their members.
She told NAIJ.com that members of the association in the state attempted confiscating her welding equipment, unless she joined the association. She thereafter called her trainer who gave her the procedure for enrolment into the association. She said being a woman she was enrolled without paying admission fee. This is another favor she enjoyed for being the only woman in a man’s world. According to her, the association members have been watching her over a period of time. She said the members informed her that she is doing men’s work and as such there is no difference between her and the men in the welders’ association, hence she must enroll with them and be a member of the union. For ladies out there who may be involved in prostitution rather than get engaged in profitable ventures, she said such engagements won’t fetch them any success in life. “Selling their bodies will take away their respect from them. A woman can do anything in this world; there is nothing that a man can do that a woman cannot do.

“As far as your mind is on it, you can do it. Running up and down and sleeping with men will not help you. Anything a woman puts her mind to do, she can do it as far as she has interest in it. A woman can climb a tree and do anything. She can climb storey buildings and follow men up just as men do it. No man can do anything better than a woman as far as the woman’s mind is on it. “The thing is in the mind, not in the physical appearance. They should release their mind and do something reasonable. A woman can do anything that a man can do on mother earth as far as I’m concerned. Prostitution is shameful and disgraceful, no good and decent woman should go into it. “Because they don’t even know who they are sleeping with, but this work, you know what you are doing; there is no fear in you of what may happen to you. But when you are going to the man, you don’t know whether he has disease that can infect you. So, nobody should encourage such lifestyle. It pays to be hardworking and there is a reward for every labor on earth”, she noted.
